About

A Builder's Perspective

Over a decade of construction experience informing every inspection.

My Story

From Building Homes to Inspecting Them

I started building houses back in 2007, doing both new builds and heritage home renovations. The work taught me how homes are put together from the ground up—every joist, every connection, every system working in concert.

In 2009, I moved to British Columbia to be in the mountains—to ski, bike, and enjoy all the other wonderful things the mountains have to offer. I'm married with two kids and have settled in the Columbia Valley, where I gained valuable experience in commercial building maintenance and continued to build houses for some exceptional contractors.

For the last seven years, I've dived into the building science world, focusing on deep energy retrofits of existing homes and building passive house new build construction. This work requires understanding how buildings perform as complete systems—how heat moves through assemblies, where moisture accumulates, and what makes a home truly efficient and durable.

This extensive experience has led me to pursuing a career as a home inspector. When I evaluate a property, I'm drawing on thousands of hours of hands-on experience building the very systems I'm inspecting. I don't just identify problems—I understand the root cause and can explain what it means for you as a homeowner.

"When you hire me for an inspection, you're getting someone who has physically built the systems I'm evaluating. I understand not just what to look for, but why it matters."
